Generations of Wisdom

Passed along from generation to generation, the art and tradition of sweetgrass basketmaking has been an artform unique to Charleston. Dating back to the early slave winnowing basket (rice basket) to the intricate styles found today, the sweetgrass basket is an important part of the cultural heritage amongst African Americans in Charleston. Dana Coleman has captured a piece of history in the release of Generations of Wisdom.
